Spring Break Day 4

On this wonderful Thursday, I had to grab a baggie of cereal and run out the door to go with my family to the coast for the day.
Lunch was super duper good at Dooger's Restaurant.

I ordered a grilled ham and cheddar on a bun. It was loaded.

However, I asked for sweet potato fries and the waiter messed up so I had to wait a bit, but it was well worth it. I ate the whole plate!

It is not a trip to the coast without a stop at the candy store.

While there I saw this popcorn that was so dang cute!

Then my sister pointed out these and we couldn't bring ourselves to but it and try it. Ew.

For some reason I was feeling like some saltwater taffy so I decided to start my own bag.

I chose some vanilla, peppermint, and cinnamon. They do not really go together but they are my favorites.

By this time of day, I was craving my afternoon hot tea and it was wonderfully comforting in the breezy beach air, until it began to rain.

Finally, we ended the day of walking through town with an ice cream cone.
Had to go for some sweet and salty chocolate chip cookie dough. Yes!

Dreyer's Slow Churned Cookies 'n Cream Ice Cream Review

Yet another single serving cup of Dreyer's Ice Cream!!!

This one is Cookies 'n Cream flavor for 190 calories.

Cookies and cream ice cream used to be my favorite, especially when there was big chunks of cookie (I am more into cookie dough now). I have had all different brands but never Dreyer's before.

When I opened the cup I was nervous because it looked similar to Skinny Cow's (made by the same company) cookies and cream ice cream which was bland and just tasted like ice cream with a gritty texture.
Well, my first bite was kind of gritty, but as I kept eating, there was actually several larger pieces of cookies and cream. Only about a quarter of my spoonfuls had a real bite of cookie in it.

Pros: When I spooned a nice crunchy bite.
Cons: The bites without large cookie was pretty gritty.

Taste: 8/10
Texture: 6/10
Amount for calories: 9/10 Dreyer's is always pretty good about having a "light" load.
Overall: 7/10

I did not love this flavor of Dreyer's so I think I will stick to their Mint Chocolate Chip and Rocky Road. For cookies and cream in the future, it would be worth it to drive to Baskin Robbins for a scoop.

Feels like Spring Break

Finally done with finals and more than ready to kick of my totally rad spring break (just kidding).
Although I did wake up this morning and decided while I was having some oatmeal that I wanted to bake.
So I did. :)
I recently found a scone recipe, because plain scones are my favorite, that includes ingredients that I always have on hand. Even though scones can be a pain in the butt, I did it!
Before they went in the oven, they were pretty small.

But they puffed a little and were amazing. I was very worried about overcooking them so I knew I had to take them out just when the tops were set. The middle was amazingly moist and buttery, while the top had a nice crunch from the sugar. So delicious!!!

By lunch time I wasn't too hungry from munching on scones all morning, but I decided to ride with my mom, grandma, and Kerby to go shopping.

We stopped at a mexican place down the street, and it was only okay. Everything was just as bland as it looks.
Chicken and cheese enchilada with black beans and rice.

After shopping around I was needing a pick me up. My grandma wanted a McDonald's coffee and although I am not fond of their food, there is one thing I like
The McDonald's little ice cream cone may not be real ice cream, but it sure is sweet.

Dreyer's Slow Churned Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Review

I am completely obsessed with ice cream.Plus as I have said before, I love single serving sizes of things. So I adore the little cups of Dreyer's ice cream.
This is Dreyer's Slow Churned Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream and you get 5.8 oz of ice cream for 190 calories. It is about the size of a scoop of ice cream.

The color is just as it appears on the carton, a pale green, just enough to tel you know it is mint flavor and not enough to make you feel like you are eating food coloring.
The flavor is a perfect mint as it is not too cooling that it gets yucky. It is a mellow sweet mint.
The ice cream is super smooth with chips that were little shavings of chocolate. There are a lot of them, but they are teeny.

Pros: Single serving cup, lower calories than other ice creams, and they really hit the mint chocolate chip favor on the nose.
Cons: The chips could be a tad larger.

Taste: 10/10
Texture: 8/10
Amount for calories: 9/10 (This is considerably less than other ice cream brands I have seen.)
Total: 9/10

I have recently have stocked my freezer with these, and am going to check out more flavors as well.

Finally Had Some Fun

Yesterday was kind of cool because Kerby and my friend came over and she gave me my late birthday present.

She knows me so well. Starbucks tea, a mug, a necklace, some nail polish, and kitty socks :)
All so usable.

Then we went to my absolute favorite pizza place.

Stark Street Pizza Co. has this crackery, thin, bubble crust which makes a layer of chewy crust above it, then topped with sweet, non chunky sauce, which is my favorite. Something about individual size pizzas get me excited, especially because I can choose my toppings, which of course it extra cheese with lots of black olives (no one else I knows likes this, but this has been my fav forever).

Last, we circled around downtown for a parking spot to get an ice cream.

We went to Ben and Jerry's and I choose Phish Food. The chocolate was decadent, but there were way too many dark chocolate fishes which were not very good (since they were dark chocolate, they tasted like bitter nothingness when paired with cold ice cream). Plus there was only that one bit of marshmallow in the whole giant scoop! (Yes, that is considered ONE scoop).

Nestlé Original Vanilla Drumstick Sundae Cone Review

I was craving some ice cream and found one of these in my freezer.
Nestlé Original Vanilla Drumstick Sundae Cone. You get a cone with vanilla ice cream dipped in chocolate and topped with chopped peanuts for 290 calories.
The looks of it does not have as many nuts as the box boasts, but it is still enough for me.
Once you bite through the thin layer of chocolate, the vanilla ice cream is very soft and creamy. It does not tast as pure as french vanilla or vanilla bean ice cream, it tastes more like soft serve. Plus as you get down into the cone, it is more soupy than solid. The peanuts provide a great crunch but once they are gone, the crunch is gone. I have never had a drumstick with a real crunchy cone, and today's it was the worst it's ever bee (and it is not old or anything). The cone literally bent in my hand. But as always in the bottom you get a nice chunk of chocolate to finish it off.

Pros: Pretty good combo when all put together as I do not have to hand scoop it myself or run to the ice cream shoppe.
Cons: Soggy cone and soupy ice cream.

Taste: 7/10 All together a good combo.
Texture: 4/10 The nuts were good, but they could have used more, had a crunchy cone, and stiffer ice cream.
Amount for calories: 7/10 You get a whole cone but it isn't filling
Overall: 6/10

These are a genius idea because they are so easy and you get the whole package, but they could definitely use an upgrade in several aspects.

Class Registration Tomorrow

I have looked through all of the class options offered atleast five times and I am still having quite a rough time. The problem is all of the intro classes are at conflicting times with my required year long class or are full.
Basically I know I am finishing my year long class which is Sustainability. Also, I am continuing Spanish. But I still have two more to take.
My options are all introduction classes:
Philosophy: which sounds okay.
Biological Anthropology: Uhh, not sure what to think.
Criminology and Criminal Justice: sounds a tad boring.

Well this is the first thing I have to do in the morning so I am going to sit down to a yummy Dreyer's Rocky Road Ice Cream (marshmallowy textured not too rich chocolate ice cream, with melty mini marshmallows, and almond pieces), and contemplate for a few more hours.

Oh and my cup of tea of course
(I have not yet mentioned that I have been addicted to tea since I learned to walk. Hot or Iced, I drink at least 5 cups a day. Never been a day without it except outdoor school when I was 12)
